Visit the Peruvian Navy Hospital Ship, which sails on Lake Titicaca and is one of the oldest iron ships in the world. It was formerly called the Yapura Ship. Then we will visit the restored Yavarí ship. This ancient iron ship became the first museum ship in the country. It and its sister ship, the Yapura, were assembled in England in 1862 at the request of Marshal Ramos Castilla, President of the Republic of Peru. Conservation and restoration work has restored the ship to its original condition. The museum showcases the history of this vessel and the Lake Titicaca fleet from the 19th and early 20th centuries. It is the only iron-hulled vessel in the world still in optimal seaworthy condition and features a magnificent Swedish Bolinder diesel engine installed in 1914. It also houses the original parts, furniture, and precision instruments, as well as a photographic collection. Then we head to Esteves Island, spending the night at the hotel on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Day 2: Departure on totora rafts from Esteves Island and then head to the northern part of Uros Island.
